FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

The common ones are below. If yours isn’t — a niche EPOS, a bespoke plugin, an urgent white-label job — book a call and we’ll map out the sensible route.

Pricing & payment

How do you price projects?

Every development job is different, so projects are priced on spec after a free consultation — you get a fixed quote before anything starts.

  • Fixed price for well-defined projects — most work is quoted this way.
  • Hourly for ad-hoc and ongoing work, at the two rates below.
  • Monthly retainers from £35 to around £3,000 a month, depending on how much you want us to take on.
What are your hourly rates?

For one-off and ongoing work outside a retainer there are two rates:

  • £45/hr — Essentials. Keeping everything running, current and looking right: WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify updates; plugin, theme and security updates; content, page and product updates; blog writing; image editing and resizing for every platform; Google Business posts and review replies; social media posts; form set-up, small styling changes and minor fixes; SEO housekeeping.
  • £75/hr — Bring it to life. If you can imagine it, we can build it: custom websites, features and web apps; integrations with CRMs, booking systems and payment providers; product and stock feeds to marketplaces and trade partners; AI assistants and automation; dashboards and portals; GA4, Tag Manager and server-side tracking; troubleshooting and emergency fixes; performance, security and migrations.
How does payment work?

The same for every client:

  • 50% on acceptance of your quote — this confirms the booking and starts the work.
  • The remaining 50% before anything goes live. Once the work is complete and signed off, the balance is settled and we publish.

Nothing is published until the balance is paid.

Why do you take the balance before going live?

Because it protects both sides. Your costs are locked before launch — no surprise invoices after the site is live — and you see the finished, signed-off work before you pay the balance. For us, it keeps the agreed scope focused: anything new is handled openly as a change request rather than quietly expanding the job.

Do you offer retainers?

Yes — and it's how most of our clients work with us. Retainers start at £35 a month for hosting and essential maintenance and go up to around £3,000 a month for everything: we take over all future development, SEO, Google Business, reviews, content, social, ads and reporting, with every decision aimed at growing the business. See how the growth retainer works.

Do you do all of it yourselves?

Yes — Google Ads, social posting, blog writing and image work are all delivered by us, not passed on. And if we think another agency would genuinely suit your business better, we’ll say so and recommend one we trust.

What are typical timelines?
  • Small integration or fix: days to a couple of weeks
  • New feature or plugin: 2–6 weeks
  • Full build or complex system: 6–12+ weeks

Timelines depend on scope, approvals and third-party tools.

AI readiness

What does “AI-ready” actually mean?

That AI can reach the information it needs to be useful. In practice: a website that captures leads properly, systems that share data rather than duplicating it, and one reliable version of your numbers. Without that, AI gives confident answers built on half the picture.

Do we need AI at all?

Not always — and we’ll tell you straight if it isn’t worth it for you yet. Often the biggest return comes from fixing the foundations first: connecting the website to the CRM, stopping enquiries getting lost, removing manual re-keying. AI is worth building once those are in place.

What kind of AI do you build?

Practical things that run on your own data: assistants that answer from your actual products and policies, automation that removes repetitive admin, and lead intelligence that shows who is interested and who to call first.

Is the code written by AI?

No. We use AI tools the way any good developer does in 2026, but the architecture, the integrations and the code you rely on are designed, written and reviewed by people who understand how all of it fits together.

Working with us

What do you actually do?

We build the systems that make websites work like businesses: custom development, API integrations, e-commerce tracking, CRM automation, stock and EPOS sync, performance, security and maintenance — and now the AI that sits on top. New builds, fixing complex problems in existing setups, or an ongoing technical partner.

Who do you work with?
  • Owner-led businesses and e-commerce brands — optimisation, automation, integrations and AI.
  • Startups — MVPs, prototypes and first commercial builds.
  • Agencies — white-label development under your brand, with NDAs and clean handovers.
Are you UK-based? Do you work internationally?

Yes — we’re UK-based and work with clients across the UK, Ireland and the US, aligning to your time zone for key meetings. Core work is done in the UK; if we bring in a specialist, we remain your single accountable partner.

What does your process look like?
  • Discovery and scope — goals, constraints, what success looks like.
  • Solution design — architecture, user flows, acceptance criteria.
  • Build and test — on a staging site, with regular updates.
  • Launch and handover — documentation, and walkthroughs where useful.
  • Support — maintenance, monitoring and continuous improvement.
What do you need from us to get started?

Access to the relevant systems (hosting, admin, repositories — read-only is fine to begin with), a clear goal, any brand assets, and a list of the tools you want connected: CRM, EPOS, marketing platforms.

Who owns the work?

You do. On completion and payment the deliverables are yours, with documentation and, where relevant, repository and platform access. Licences are bought in your name so you keep control.

Can you work on a site someone else built?

Yes — after a short audit to confirm what we’re dealing with. We often stabilise a legacy setup before extending it.

How do changes to the scope work?

We log the change, estimate the impact on cost and timeline, and agree it with you before doing it.

For agencies

Can you work white-label, under NDA?

Yes. We work under your brand, join your Slack or project tool, and deliver to your templates and processes — on client calls as part of your team, or silently in the background.

Can you help us scope and estimate?

Yes — we review briefs, flag risks, provide estimates and write technical statements of work you can present to your client.

Do you handle documentation and handover?

Always: release notes, implementation guides and walkthroughs where needed, so your client gets a clean, professional handover.

Platforms & integrations

Which platforms do you work with?
  • WordPress and WooCommerce — custom themes, plugins, admin tools, integrations.
  • Shopify — custom apps, checkout extensibility, tracking, headless builds.
  • React, Next.js and Node — dashboards, portals, SaaS features, APIs.
  • APIs and data — REST and GraphQL integrations, webhooks, central reporting.
  • CRM and marketing — our own CRM, YUUTANI — built in-house, tailored to each business and white-label at no extra cost; plus HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, Pipedrive, Mailchimp and Klaviyo when you’re already on them.
  • EPOS and stock — real-time sync between online stores and in-store systems.
Do you have your own CRM?

Yes — [YUUTANI](https://yuutani.com), built and run by us. It does what the big-name CRMs do — contacts, pipeline, invoicing, email campaigns and more — usually for less, and it’s always evolving.

  • Tailored to your business. Because we built it, we shape it around how you actually work rather than the other way round.
  • White-label at no extra cost. Run it under your own brand.
  • Connected from day one. It plugs straight into the websites, forms and tracking we set up, so leads land in the right place automatically.

Already on HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho or Pipedrive? We’ll integrate with those instead.

Can you connect our EPOS or stock system to our online store?

Yes — real-time or scheduled sync of stock, pricing and orders between WooCommerce or Shopify and your in-store system, which cuts overselling and admin time.

Do you handle analytics and tracking?

Yes — GA4, Meta and ad platform pixels, server-side tracking, consent management and event pipelines, so you measure real conversions rather than clicks.

Do you do SEO?

Yes — technical SEO (structure, speed, schema), local SEO through your Google Business Profile and reviews, and content: blog posts written to answer what your customers are actually searching for. It’s all part of the growth retainer, or available on its own.

Do you provide hosting?

We usually work with your existing host — SiteGround, Kinsta, Cloudways, AWS, Vercel or similar — and handle staging, backups, monitoring and security either way. Migrations are done with no downtime: tested on staging first, DNS switched only once everything is verified.

Support, security & compliance

Do you offer maintenance and support?

Yes — patching, backups, uptime monitoring, performance checks and security updates, on their own or bundled into a retainer.

What response times can we expect?

Next working day for non-critical requests as standard. Retainer clients get same-day response on high-priority issues, with emergency on-call available.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — we fix defects in the delivered scope for a warranty window after launch, typically 30–60 days. New requirements are handled as change requests.

How do you handle security?

Least-privilege access, version control, dependency checks, hardening and managed backups, with staging-to-production approvals and the ability to roll back.

Are you GDPR-aware? Will you sign a DPA or NDA?

Yes on both. We support data minimisation, consent management and compliant analytics, and we’re happy to sign your DPA or NDA or provide ours.

Do you build with accessibility in mind?

Yes — we build to WCAG 2.1 AA: semantic structure, keyboard navigation, colour contrast and screen-reader labels, tested with automated checks and by hand.
